Q: What do you
believe about the Bible?
A: Dayspring believes that the Bible
is the inerrant Word of God, breathed by the Holy Spirit and illuminated
through the light of His teaching. As we grow in our knowledge of
the Bible imparted by the Holy Spirit, we understand that the Scriptures
are not simply a collection of books written over thousands of years, but
one cohesive message from God, given to us supernaturally for the purpose
of our gaining knowledge of Him.
Q: Are you
Evangelical? Charismatic? What do these labels mean?
A: These labels mean different
things to different people, depending on church backgrounds, but we
believe both labels apply to Dayspring.
We interpret the Bible quite
literally (keeping in mind that some scriptures are obviously idiomatic or
metaphorical), and
believe that God means what He says and says what He means.
Dayspring encourages active evangelism, meaning that we are all in the
full-time ministry as ambassadors of God. We take God seriously in
that He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance. We are proactive in sharing the Good News of the
salvation available to us through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, as
well as spiritual abundance through a Godly lifestyle.
We believe that the gifts of the
Holy Spirit, as described in 1 Corinthians 12 and elsewhere, are active in
the Church and are available to us as we move in them. Dayspring
exercises the gifts as we are led by the Holy Spirit.
Q: What attire
should I wear?
A: Dayspring has no dress code, and
you will feel comfortable regardless of what you choose to wear. You
are likely to see the full style spectrum, from jeans and tee-shirts to
suits and dresses on Sunday morning. Wednesday, however, is
decidedly casual.
Q: Is Dayspring
associated with a denomination?
A: Dayspring is a fellowship of
Christian believers and as such, can claim to be associated with the
denomination of the followers of Christ. Otherwise, we are
non-denominational. We do, however, pray for and support all other
Bible teaching, Bible believing Christian churches of any denomination.
Q: What is your
worship service like?
A: Our worship service is what most
people would consider contemporary with a full worship band providing the
music. We take our time to worship the Lord and don't hurry through
this vital part of our gathering. We try to keep the music as
up-to-date as possible while retaining some older standards, and even a
few hymns. We often employ the Song of the Lord. Appropriate
dancing before the Lord is welcomed.
Q: Who is Jesus
Christ?
A: I wish I could adequately
describe Him to you...
-
He is the King of the Jews – He will literally take the
throne of David
-
He is a national King – the King of
Israel
-
He was not elected, and He certainly
cannot be impeached
-
He is King of all the ages, the King
of Heaven, the King of glory, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
-
He was a Prophet before Moses, a Priest after Melchizedek, a
Champion of Joshua, an Offering in the place
of Isaac, a King from the line of David
-
He is a Wise Counselor above Solomon
-
He was beloved, assaulted, and
exalted like Joseph, yet far more
-
The heavens are His glory, the
firmament shows His handiwork
-
It is He who is and was and always
shall be, the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega, the Aleph and
the Tao, the A and the Z
-
He was the first fruits of them that
slept, He is the Am that I Am, He is the voice of the burning bush
-
He was the Captain of the Lord’s
host, He was the conqueror of Jerico
-
He is enduringly strong, entirely
sincere, eternally steadfast
-
He is immortally graceful,
imperially powerful, impartially merciful
-
In Him dwells the fullness of the
Godhead bodily, the very God of very God
-
He is our kinsman Redeemer, and He’s
our avenger of blood; He’s also our city of refuge
-
He is our performing High Priest, our
personal prophet, our reigning King
-
He is the loftiest idea in
literature; the highest personality in philosophy; He’s the fundamental
doctrine of theology
-
He is the supreme problem in higher
criticism
-
He is the miracle of all the ages,
the superlative of everything good
-
He is the author of a love letter
written to us in blood on a cross in Judea, some 2000 years ago
-
By Him were all things made that
were made; without Him was not anything made that was made, and by Him
are all things held together
-
He was not held to the cross by
nails - He was held by His amazing love for you and me
-
He was born of a woman so that we
could be born of God
-
He humbled Himself so that we could
be lifted up
-
He became a servant so that we could
be made joint heirs with Him
-
He suffered rejection so that we
could become His friends
-
He denied Himself so that we could
freely receive all things
-
He gave Himself so that He could
bless us in every way
-
He’s available to the tempted and
tried, He blesses the young, He cleanses the lepers, He tends to the
feeble, He delivers the captives, He discharges the debtors, He forgives
the sinners, He franchises the meek, He guards the deceived, He heals
the sick, He provides strength to the weak, He regards the aged, He
rewards the diligent, He serves the unfortunate, He sympathizes, and He
saves
-
His offices are manifold, His reign
is righteous, His promises are sure, His goodness is limitless, His
light is matchless, His grace is sufficient, His love never changes, His
mercy is everlasting, His Word is enough, His yoke is easy, and His
burden is light
-
He is indescribable; He is
incomprehensible, He is irresistible, He is invincible
-
The heaven of heavens cannot contain
Him; man cannot explain Him; Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but soon
learned they couldn’t stop Him
-
Pilate couldn’t find any fault with
Him, witnesses couldn’t agree against Him, Herod couldn’t kill Him,
death couldn’t handle Him, the grave couldn’t hold Him
-
He has always been, and always will
be; He had no predecessor, He will have no successor
-
His name is above every name – at
the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord
-
His is the Kingdom, the Power, and
the Glory forever and ever, Amen
